Assessment and Feedback in a Creative Technology Course: issues in using technology to support assignments in a technology-based subject

Like many universities, our own institution is moving increasingly to the electronic management of assessment (EMA). This development can pose difficulties for courses in the creative industries, however. Not only is there the perennial problem of getting students to engage with feedback, which is an issue for traditional as well as online assessment, there is the added technical difficulty of having to accept student artefacts that can exceed the filesize limit imposed by our Moodle administrators. Here we describe our experiences, positive and negative, of introducing EMA in a creative technologies subject while attempting to improve student engagement with feedback.
